For once, I actually did what I said I was going to do. I said I was going to have a low key weekend, and that is exactly what I did. My head was all jumbled last week and I was stressed out with school, so I really just needed to stay home and get stuff done.
But because I don’t like to miss out on the fun, I still chose to involve some wine.
From a box because I’m classy.
While I was doing my homework, I enjoyed my wine and texted my friends who were also drinking. It made the whole experience feel more social. It also made it seem more acceptable to have an extra glass or two. Because you know, I wasn’t really drinking by myself.
After a few glasses, I decided it would be the perfect time to start on my essay that’s due tonight. By the status I posted on Facebook, it didn’t look like that was going to end well.
However, when my mom read it for me in the morning, she had nothing but good things to say. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why I bother writing anything while I’m sober.
Once my homework was taken care of, I took care of the mess going on in my head the best way I know how – running. A lot. In the rain.
Sometimes it’s just the only thing that works.
It took an awful lot of running, but I needed it. I got my head all sorted out and I’m not feeling so bogged down anymore.
Even though I’ve been having an awful lot of fun with these ridiculous weekends lately, I definitely needed to take this one off. Sometimes you just need a break. Besides, I’m sure I’ll get back to the crazy soon enough.

Again, we’re samesies. I have to take a weekend off every now and then or I’ll go nuts. And drunk paper writing is always fun!
Low key weekends are the best! We got caught biking in the rain yesterday and I must admit, it was so rejuvenating. And that says something…I HATE rain!
Isn’t it amazing what a good run can do? Something about pushing past our worries, anxieties, blahness…thanks for sharing with me…and for inspiring me to get out on my own run. I hope you have a blessed day!
You really do need low key weekends every once and a while. I was dead set on having one this weekend, and of course barely even saw the inside of my apartment. I will say- they’re much easier to accomplish during the winter when it’s cold and crappy out! I’m glad you got lots done- well played!
True story: I wrote my grad school entrance essay at 2am after a night of drinking and managed to score a fellowship worth $250,000. Yeah I think there is something to buzzed writing
Glad you had a lowkey weekend! I Can only have so many busy weekends in a row before I NEED to have a quiet one!
During the summer, it’s really hard to fit one of those in… glad you were able to. And you must tell me your secret!
So glad your low key weekend turned out! Gotta love a bit of drunk paper writing every now and again! Sometimes they do turn out well!
This makes me laugh because my friends and I do this all the time. It will be a random Wednesday night, I’ll text one of them and say I can’t drink alone. We have virtual wine dates it’s fantastic!
Boxed wine lasts so much longer than bottled
Nice! Exercise is always guaranteed to clear my head!
I’m heading off to the spa in Arizona tomorrow. I get to workout whenever I want b/c the gym is 24 hours. There’s also an “adults only” pool and waiters to serve you drinks from 9am to 9pm. I think I may have found my Mecca.
Your boxes of wine make me so happy. And thirsty. I need to invest in a couple. Running is a fool-proof way for me to clear my head, too. Well, running AND wine. Not together obviously, but you know what I mean.
