Avoidance

So I pretty much spent the weekend doing everything I could to avoid studying.

I went for a run, I walked the dog, I drank lots of wine and played with my shiny new laptop.

Then I made a massive batch of chilli, and whole bunch of sweet potatoes – which I ate together (and will continue to have every day this week for lunch).

Its not pretty, but I was too hungry to bother trying to take a better picture.

After the cooking spree I dyed my hair.

Apparently I am the only one that thinks it looks different, because I spent all of yesterday with my parents and neither of them noticed. Oh well, the grey is gone and that’s what matters.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t put it off forever and eventually I had to suck it up and face my textbooks.

The both of these together make my brain hurt. I wont lie, I fell asleep reading the political science text. Again. I need to be drunk to read that book. Politics just isn’t my idea of fun.

Somehow I got through all my reading, just don’t ask me what it was about, I cant guarantee that I remember any of it.

  • My favorite classes were always history…I took so many extra history classes that I had enough credits to actually have a minor in it. Oops!

  • I love HP laptops. I have their Netbook mini and it’s awesome. And cute. ;) I think politics would be far more interesting for everyone if alcohol was always included. It would definitely be for me!

  • I’m not a big fan of politics either. I probably would have fallen asleep reading for that class also. Happy Monday :)

  • Hey, at least you DO the reading. I got MULTIPLE whiny emails this week about “how could could I ever learn 170 pages of material in 3 weeks?!” Okay, folks…let’s break this down. That’s about 7 pages a day – totally doable, and maybe if you 1) came to class, 2) didn’t sleep during class, or 3) didn’t text the entire class, you may not be so overwhelmed! It’ll be worth it – I admire you so much for going back and pursuing your dreams!

The texting during class annoys me! People think theyre too important. Your friends wont care if you dont text them for an hour.

  • As a cost effective decision, I think I’m dying my own hair soon. This scares me, but my friend who is a hair dresser is getting me the “good stuff” and assures me that even the worst of the worst can do it on their own with what she’s getting… Scared!!!

Ahh I hate it when you spend all that time reading, and you’re sure that you ARE focusing… only to realize that you’ve read a page and you don’t even remember what you read. (<– Clearly talking from experience.)

[Kind of don't agree with Nicole's comment. Cumulatively, across five classes, I have had three weeks to read 1,400 pages of material. That's about 67 pages a day, on top of going to class, taking notes while reading and answering end-of-chapter questions, and doing homework. Doable if you don't sleep, maybe.]

I have to admire people who take polisci… like you. XD I also find that class incredibly boring. I think the subject might actually be interesting, but the way it is taught is just… bleh.

At least next weekend is a long weekend! :D (Downside: midterm season.)

  • Nothing like a fresh dye job to make ya feel pretty! I got mine done on Saturday. I was always the worst at actually doing the reading for class.

  • I love the idea of chili on top of a sweet potato. Yum!
I was so bad at keeping up with reading, which was not good since I was an English major and reading was pretty much the only thing I was supposed to do…

  • I always feel a little disappointed after I make any kind of change to my hair, like I expect masses of people to dramatically turn their heads as I walk by and shout “Lookin good!” or other complimentary things to me.
    Never happens.
It does look good though :)

  • Dude, I found a couple gray hairs this weekend and sort of flipped out. I might be joining you in the hair dying game pretty soon. Chili on a potato sounds REALLY good right now. I think I’m going to have to explore that option for dinner. ;)

Yah . . . I remember when I found my first couple of greys. I marched out of the bathroom and pointed them out to my mom. She laughed. Such supportive parenting.

  • Leah your hair looks great!! That color really suits your coloring well :)

  • Political Science would make me so bored if I had to read that. UGH! Your dinner looks really good though. Chili with Sweet potato? Never thought of that but it sounds yummy. I protest the non-Lexie post. Picture me with a big sign that says, “Boycott the Non-Lexie posts!”. I’ve staged a sit-in. I am at my desk. No one seems to notice.

OOOH…love the shiney new laptop!! And your hair looks FANTASTIC!!!! Have a great Monday Leah. Hi to Lexie.

  • Nobody noticed when I went blonde to brunette either. Some people pay No attention to the important stuff in life ;)

  • How do you like the laptop?

  • Love the new haircolor! And the new laptop. ;)

Text books should always be read while drunk. I’m pretty sure that’s a rule.

  • I am always most productive when there is just one thing that needs to be done that I can’t stand :) Making enough chili to eat all week sounds fantastic! I need one of those dinners with that many leftovers this week.

  • Ugh…I hate politics too. Anytime the hubby starts talking politics, I totally shut him out. I think he’s finally starting to catch on.
